Author Guidelines

1. General terms

  1. The journal "Vestnik Samarskogo Gosudarstvennogo Tekhnicheskogo Universiteta. Seriya Fiziko-Matematicheskie Nauki" (Parallel Title: "Journal of Samara State Technical University, Ser. Physical and Mathematical Sciences") is the periodical scientific edition published by Samara State Technical University since 1993. The main purposes of publishing include development of research activities, highly qualified specialists training and support of leading scientific schools.
  2. Since 2011 the journal is a quarterly printed edition (four issues a year); issue size  – 200 pages; language of articles  – Russian, English.
  3. The journal is published in printed and electronic version. The full-text electronic version of journal is hosted by All-Russian mathematical portal Math-Net.Ru and by the web-site of scientific electronic library eLIBRARY.RU.
  4. The journal is published at the expense of publisher. All materials are publishing free of charge, the author's fee is not provided. All materials of the electronic version are freely available.
  5. Since 2015 the journal publishes the results of fundamental researches on sections:
    • "Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics",
    • "Deformable Solid Body Mechanics",
    • "Mathematical Modeling, Numerical Methods and Software Complexes".
  6. The contributed article should be a completed scientific research. The scientific results must be novel and should not have been published, or be in process of publication in other editions.
  7. The publisher will use the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) flowcharts if the signs of duplicate article submitting are detected.
  8. The publisher consider the invited articles and reviews, materials of doctoral and candidate theses and the researches conducted with support from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and other foundations, primarily.
  9. The editorial board uses e-mail to communicate with authors, editors and reviewers at all stages of manuscripts proceeding. The authors should specify the e-mail address properly and notice the editorial board when it changes.
  10. Only one article of the same could be published in the current issue, if there are several ones in editor's hand. This article is chosen by the editorial board. The second one could be published in next issue, and so on. The editorial board is entitled to make a decision of publishing at most two articles of the same author simultaneously on extraordinary occasions.
  11. The present Guidelines come into effect from the date of online publishing on web-site of the Journal (http://www.mathnet.ru/eng/vsgtu). The changes of Guidelines come into effect from the date of online publishing of the Guidelines new version.
  12. The terms of paragraph 3.5 of present Guidelines are extended to the articles, published earlier.

2. Review guidelines

  1. The editorial board sends all submitted articles for review (double-blind). The reviewers are the acknowledged experts on the theme of the review subject with publications on this theme published in last three years. The reviews are kept in the editorial office during 5 years.
  2. The reviewers should adhere the journal policies for reviewing and the ethic guidelines.
  3. The editorial board makes a decision about the publication based on the reviewer's expert judgments taking into account the correspondence of the contributed materials with the thematic scope of journal, its scientific importance and actuality.
  4. The editorial board avoids involving as reviewers people probably having the conflict of interest. The authors can inform the editorial board about the people whose contribution as reviewers is not desirable because of conflict of interest possibility. The reasoning of this view is required.
  5. The authors can recommend the experts on the article subject to be invited as reviewers (no more than 2 persons) if they meet the requirements of paragraph 2.1. The reviewers selection is the exclusive right of the editorial board.
  6. The editorial board sends the copies of reviews or the reasonable refusal to the authors. The editorial board is obliged to send the copies of reviews to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation if the corresponding request is received. The reviewer's name is not disclosed.
  7. If a manuscript needs revision, it is sent to the authors with the reports of reviewer and science editor. If a manuscript needs revision, it is sent to the authors with the reports of reviewer and science editor. The authors should close out all review and edition comments and reply all remarks. If the authors do not agree with the reviewer or editor, they have to reason their case briefly and sharp. After revision the article is sent for the review again. Then the editorial board makes a decision about the possibility of publication.
  8. The article has been sent for the revision after reviewing should be returned to the editors with necessary improvements and corrections within up to 30 continuous days from the receipt date. In this case the first date of its submitting is kept. If the article is returned after this period it will have the new submitting date.
  9. The editorial board is entitled to reject articles without review if those are prepared improperly or do not conform to the subject of journal.

3. Guidelines on plagiarism, duplication and redundancy of publication

  1. All submitted articles are checked for the illegal using of other works (plagiarism), duplication and redundancy of publication (including the translation from other languages).
  2. If plagiarism, duplication or redundancy (including self-plagiarism) is found, the article is rejected without review as unacceptable.
  3. The extended results represented at the conferences and seminars are not the cases of duplication or redundancy if those are published in journal by agreement with the editorial board and have the corresponding references.
  4. The journal allows prior publication on preprint servers (excluding prior publication in other editions). Such article is not deemed having duplication or redundancy.
  5. If a case of plagiarism or duplication comes to light after a paper is published in the Journal, the editor will use the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) flowcharts for removing of such article.

4. Text recycling

  1. The submitted article (excluding the bibliography) should not have more than 15 percent of recycled text (text used in other publications of the author).
  2. The journal allows text recycling only for including necessary definitions, formulating base principles etc for reading the article without additional sources. This case of text recycling is not self-plagiarism.
  3. If authors consider necessary for reader to study some materials on similar subject or not included in the article, they can make the bibliography sufficiently complete to find these materials.

5. Manuscript preparing requirements

  1. The submitting manuscript should be prepared for printing using the publishing system LaTeX2ε, style package samgtu.sty and be in accordance with the sample.tex file (download sample.zip) . The manuscript should include following necessary elements (in Russian and in English): Universal Decimal Classification and 2010 Mathematics Subject Classification indexes, title, information about authors (with ORCID), abstract, keywords, acknowledgements (optional), and bibliography.
  2. Articles (without the bibliography) should fill 10–20 pages. The authors should follow the International System of Units (SI) when preparing a manuscript.
  3. Manuscript should be written in clear, concise and grammatically correct Russian or English.
  4. An abstract is a succinct summary of a longer piece of work, usually academic in nature, which is published in isolation from the main text and should therefore stand on its own and be understandable without reference to the longer piece. It should report the latter's essential facts, and should not exaggerate or contain material that is not there. Its purpose is to act as a reference tool (for example in a library abstracting service), enabling the reader to decide whether or not to read the full text. Abstracts should contain no more than 250 words. Write concisely and clearly. The abstract should reflect only what appears in the original paper. The Abstract should:
    • Describe the main objective(s) of the study;
    • Explain how the study was done, including any model organisms used, without methodological detail;
    • Summarize the most important results and their significance.

      Abstracts should not include citations and abbreviations, if possible.
  5. The tables should be enumerated if article has more than one. The title is required for the table, which has its own significance. The accessory tables should not have title.
  6. Only the most important formulas those are referred to in the text should be enumerated. The continuous numbering is preferred. It is a good practice to use the contracted notations for the identical blocks which repeat in formulas.
  7. The figures and diagrams should be prepared in vector graphic editors only. The photographies and screenshots should be represented as raster graphics. The recommended figure sizes are 60×150 and 60×70 mm. The figures should be enumerated if article has more than one. Each figure should have a title (figure legend).
  8. The journal does not allow using the copyrighted images as well as previously published images without source identification.
  9. The items of bibliography should be each numbered, ordered sequentially as they appear in the text. The authors compose the bibliography according to their opinion about the necessity of each reference.

6. Submitting a manuscript

  1. All the files, related to the manuscript (the manuscript in tex format; the compiled manuscript file in pdf format; figures files prepared in accordance with paragraph 5.7) should be archived and registered on the journal web-site.
  2. The submitting of manuscript include following 6 steps (the short reference for manuscript submitting: http://goo.gl/mfFzrh):
    • Step 1. Enter the title of manuscript in Russian and in English.
    • Step 2. Enter the authors of manuscript.
    • Step 3. Enter the abstract and keywords in Russian and in English.
    • Step 4. Upload the manuscript files in archive. Upload the compiled manuscript file in pdf format separately. Upload the manuscript file in pdf format without information about authors for reviewers.
    • Step 5. You can leave a comment, including the information about possible reviewers and not desirable for reviewing persons. Please, reason your viewpoint.
    • Step 6. Check the correctness of entered data. If the information is right, the manuscript should be uploaded to the database.
  3. The editorial board verifies the manuscript initially for compliance with the present Guidelines in 2–3 weeks. If the article is prepared in accordance with Journal requirements the editorial board sends a registration confirmation to the authors.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with each of the following items, and submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines may be returned to the authors.

  • Absence of plagiarism. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

  • Correct manuscript format. Manuscript file format is Microsoft Word (has the extension *.doc, *.docx, *.rtf). The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in "For Authors" section.

  • Cover letter. All the required supporting documents will be submitted together with the manuscript. Authors guarantee to upload scanned original of the filled cover letter in PDF. A cover letter signed by all authors.

 

Copyright Notice

Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

  1. The journal applies the CC BY 4.0 Licence to all content we publish. Under the CC BY 4.0 Licence, authors retain ownership of the copyright for their article, but authors allow anyone to download, reuse, reprint, modify, distribute, and/or copy articles in the journal, so long as the original authors and source are cited. No permission is required from the authors or the publisher.
  2. Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book, translate it into another language), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.
  3. According to SHERPA/RoMEO classification this journal refers to the so-called "green" journals, i.e. permits authors to archive both pre-prints and post-prints of their papers. Authors are also permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process.

 

Privacy Statement

  1. The following authors' information, includes their names, affiliations, contact data, data on their held position and academic degrees, links to the authors' profiles, is placed in the article in the section “About the authors”.
  2. Authors' passport data and their place of residence entered in the journal editorial board will be used exclusively for the conclusion of a licence contract, for correspondence, and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
  3. The reviewers' names are not disclosed to authors and any other party.
