These receptors are actually cationic Ca2+-permeable channels that detect thermal or mechanical disturbances of the cell membrane and convert them into changes in membrane potential and intracellular Ca2+ concentration. The article discusses the retrospective aspects of the research and its key results, which have been so highly praised by the Nobel Committee.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Нобелевская премия 2021 г. в области физиологии или медицины присуждена американским ученым Дэвиду Джулиусу и Ардему Патапоутяну «за открытие рецепторов температуры и осязания». Эти рецепторы — фактически катионные Са2+-проницаемыми каналы, которые детектируют тепловые или механические возмущения плазматической мембраны клетки и конвертируют их в изменения мембранного потенциала и уровня внутриклеточного Са2+.
