Abstract

A certain number of ring megastructures of significant sizes were discovered on lunar surface. The estimation of their age shows that they belong to the most ancient forms of relief there. Some of them were later filled with basalt lava, flowing from lunar interior, and became lunar maria. But on the far side of the Moon such structures preserved their almost primordial appearance. Their morphology as well as the models of their impact formation supported a hypothesis on the earliest period of lunar history. One can suggest that the most common bodies, which formed these megastructures in the first 500 million years of lunar history, were comets with giant nuclei.
