Abstract

Modified low-density lipoproteins (LDL) stimulate cholesterol accumulation in the cells of blood vessels, favoring the development of atherosclerosis. The enzyme trans-sialidase induces atherogenic modification of LDL. This investigation has studied the effect of extracts from natural products on plasma trans-sialidase activity.
