To study the endocrine and metabolic characteristics of different phenotypes of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Subjects and methods. A complete clinical and laboratory study was made in 155 reproductive-age women, including 135 patients with PCOS and 20 healthy individuals. Results. The complete phenotype of PCOS was identified in 63%; its incomplete phenotypes were determined in the other cases; among them, both androgenic and non-androgenic phenotypes were encountered with nearly equal frequency. The patients with the androgenic phenotypes of PCOS, particularly with its complete form, besides hyperandrogenemia, were more frequently found to have elevated luteinizing hormone levels and more significant metabolic disorders than those with the non-androgenic phenotype and with carbohydrate metabolic disturbances being uncharacteristic of them; dyslipoproteinemia was 1.5 times less common and hyperinsulinemia and metabolic syndrome were observed 2 times less frequently. Conclusion. The women with ovulation and hyperandrogenemia have a higher risk for the metabolic disturbances similar to the earlier known phenotypes of PCOS whereas the risks for metabolic syndrome associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases are low in women having anovulation with hyperandrogenism.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Цель исследования. Изучение эндокринно-метаболических характеристик различных фенотипов синдрома поликистозных яичников (СПКЯ). Материал и методы. Проведено полное клинико-лабораторное обследование 155 женщин репродуктивного возраста, из них 135 — с СПКЯ и 20 здоровых. Результаты исследования. У 63% был выявлен полный фенотип СПКЯ, в остальных случаях определялись неполные фенотипы, среди них приблизительно с одинаковой частотой встречались как андрогенные, так и неандрогенный. Было выявлено, что у больных с андрогенными фенотипами СПКЯ, особенно с полной формой, помимо гиперандрогенемии, чаще имеются повышенные уровни лютеинизирующего гормона и более выраженные метаболические расстройства, чем у больных с неандрогенным фенотипом, для которых не характерны нарушения углеводного обмена, примерно в 1,5 раза реже отмечается дислипопротеинемия, в 2 раза реже — гиперинсулинемия и метаболический синдром. Заключение. Для женщин с овуляцией и гиперандрогенией существует повышенный риск развития метаболических нарушений, сходных с ранее известными фенотипами СПКЯ, тогда как для женщин с ановуляцией без гиперандрогении риски формирования метаболического синдрома, ассоциированного с сахарным диабетом 2-го типа и кардиоваскулярными заболеваниями, невысоки.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>polycystic ovary syndrome</kwd><kwd>phenotype</kwd><kwd>metabolic syndrome</kwd><kwd>hyperandrogenism</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>синдром поликистозных яичников</kwd><kwd>фенотип</kwd><kwd>метаболический синдром</kwd><kwd>гиперандрогения</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Altmäe S., Haller K., Peters M. et al.
