Abstract

The results of the primers presented on the Russian Federation market comprehensive study are presented. According to the study result, the primers effectiveness is assessed according to their main functional purpose: the ability to even out the absorbency of dissimilar substrates, strengthen weak surfaces and provide the necessary finishing layer adhesion strength to the substrate. According to the experimental results, it has been established that some primers do not provide the properties declared by manufacturers, in particular, not leveling the dissimilar materials absorbency (aerated concrete block and gypsum plaster), and also lead to a decrease in adhesion. The key study conclusion is that there is no direct correlation between the primer cost and its effectiveness. It is shown that there are products with a significant difference in quality in one price segment. It is justified that it is necessary choosing primers according to comprehensive laboratory tests, rather than marketing promises or price.
