Bibliometric approaches were engaged to study the frequency of publications of prominent scientists from the Novosibirsk Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences during their career. This included their thesis defense, assignment to leading positions in research organizations, and election as members of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The highest correlation was between the growth in the number of papers and assignment to a position of leadership. A rapid growth in scholarly output, in this case, was achieved through co-authorship. Furthermore, the thematic diversity of papers was significantly enhanced during this period. Our investigation enabled us to detect cases of violation of publication ethics through the use of "guest" and "honorary" authorship.</p>
В ходе исследования обнаружены случаи нарушения публикационной этики и использования неприемлемых типов "гостевого" и "почётного" авторства.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>career progress</kwd><kwd>scholarly output</kwd><kwd>publication ethics</kwd><kwd>co-authorship</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>карьерный рост</kwd><kwd>публикация</kwd><kwd>научная этика</kwd><kwd>соавторство</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><award-group><funding-source><institution-wrap><institution xml:lang="en">Russian Foundation for Basic Research</institution></institution-wrap><institution-wrap><institution xml:lang="ru">Российский фонд фундаментальных исследований</institution></institution-wrap></funding-source><award-id></award-id></award-group><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">Исследование выполнено по программе ФНИ IX.128.1 при финансовой поддержке РФФИ в рамках научного проекта 18-011-00797.</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Colledge L., Verlinde R.
