However, a substantial number of complications, including those occurring in the long term, affect patients’ quality of life. Adverse events directly attributable to implantable medical devices remain insufficiently studied, although their analysis is crucial for the development of a modern safety culture, improvement of the regulatory framework, and enhancement of the quality of medical care.</p> <p>AIM: The work aimed to assess the distribution of adverse events associated with the use of orthopedic medical devices in order to improve the medical device safety monitoring system.</p> <p>METHODS: A quantitative analysis of adverse events reported between 2020 and 2025 was performed, including evaluation by severity, outcome, types of adverse events, and causes of failure. Statistical analysis was conducted using descriptive methods, with calculation of absolute and relative (percentage) frequencies for each category.</p> <p>RESULTS: The analysis demonstrated that the largest number of adverse events recorded in the automated information system of the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare during the period 2020–2025 was associated with the use of orthopedic medical devices, primarily joint endoprostheses and osteosynthesis systems. The obtained data confirm that these categories of devices account for the highest proportion of risks during clinical use, which is consistent with previously published studies.</p> <p>CONCLUSION: An objective analysis of data on the frequency of adverse events and their causes makes it possible to identify risk factors that were not taken into account at the stage of market authorization of medical devices, to revise accompanying documentation for medical devices, to implement measures to prevent the use of devices posing a threat to life and health, and ultimately to improve the quality of medical care.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Обоснование. Объективный анализ данных о частоте неблагоприятных событий и их причинах позволяет выявлять факторы риска, которые не были учтены на этапе допуска медицинского изделия на рынок, проводить корректировку сопроводительной документации на медицинское изделие, принимать меры по недопущению применения медицинских изделий, представляющих угрозу жизни и здоровью граждан, и в итоге повышать качество оказания медицинской помощи.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>medical devices</kwd><kwd>medical device safety</kwd><kwd>adverse event</kwd><kwd>safety monitoring</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>медицинские изделия</kwd><kwd>безопасность медицинских изделий</kwd><kwd>неблагоприятное событие</kwd><kwd>мониторинг безопасности</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group/></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Corbett L, Losina E, Nti AA, Prokopetz JJ, Katz JN.
