The functioning of mucosal immunity in the patients presenting with chronic inflammatory and neoplastic stomatological diseases

Abstract

The comprehensive estimation of local immunological reactivity of the oral cavity tissues in healthy subjects and in the patients presenting with chronic gingivitis, chronic periodontitis, leukoplacia, and squamous cell neoplasms gave evidence of serious local immune disorders associated with pathological changes in the oral mucous membrane. It is concluded that the character of local immunological disturbances reflects the continuum of transition states from functional stress to the failure of adaptation.
