The paper presents the main approaches to diagnosis of technical means of chronometry, the mechanical chronometer in particular, based on using the correlation and spectral functions apparatus, as well as using information technology to automate the processes of finding statistical characteristics. On the basis of existing methods and means of diagnostics analyzing the diagnostics method of technical means of chronometry is offered. It is based on working out the information models attached to certain defects of the mechanical chronometer.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Рассматриваются вопросы, связанные с применением аппарата корреляционных и спектральных функций для диагностики технических средств хронометрии, а также с применением информационных технологий для автоматизации процессов нахождения, построения и анализа корреляционных и спектральных функций. Сформулированы основные подходы, позволяющие проводить диагностику технических средств хронометрии, в частности механического хронометра, на основе применения аппарата корреляционных и спектральных функций, а также использования средств информационных технологий для автоматизации процессов нахождения статистических характеристик.
