Primarily, the controversy over lamotrigine prescribing is related to its side effect profile – namely, risks of potentially dangerous rash. The aim of this review is to analyse the efficacy of the drug, its side-effect profile and frequency of side-effects, and to compare it with other pharmacotherapies. We made a literature review of russiam and foreign databases. Seizar shows a good safety and efficacy profile, improving patients’ quality of life in the long term and halving the recurrence rate. The risk of rash in 8% of patients within 4 months of treatment initiation is associated with uncorrected drug titration, combination with valproate; however, these risks must be compared with the much more common risks associated with untreated BD.</p>
Вероятность возникновения сыпи у 8 % пациентов в течение 4 месяцев от начала лечения связана с некорректным титрованием препарата, комбинацией с вальпроатами; тем не менее, данные риски необходимо сопоставлять с гораздо более распространенными рисками, связанными с нелеченным БАР.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Seizar</kwd><kwd>bipolar affective disorder</kwd><kwd>lamotrigine</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>сейзар</kwd><kwd>биполярное аффективное расстройство</kwd><kwd>ламотриджин</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group/></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Brigo F., Igwe S.C., Lattanzi S.
