TOLERANCE AS A CULTURAL VALUE OF MODERN SOCIETY

Abstract

The article considers the perceptional nature of tolerance, reveals the conditions required for it. The author demonstrates that tolerance is relevant in relation to other values such as truth, justice and equality. When considering tolerance as a value one has to appeal to substantive ideas of the good, individual autonomy and respect, in particular. The author shows the relationship between tolerance and the principle ofobjectivism in scientific research
