The ways and perspectives of broadening the organ donor base depend not only on quantitative indices, but also on the implementation of innovative solutions. The main tasks of organ donation programs include using predominantly those organ donors who have been pronounced dead, and performing retrieval of multiple organs in accordance with transplant center requirements. As organ donation affects the interests of both dead and living persons, it requires resolving not only medical but also educational, moral, ethical, and legal issues.
