Abstract

The article discusses critical views of modern western researchers on problems of creation of mechanisms of public and internal control over medicine within the framework of the phenomenon of "audit explosion» in western societies and in the context of cultural changes in medical professioncon. In the course of modernisation of systems of public health services and medical education there are important transformations of social contexts of medical practice and training, affecting such bases of medicine, as professional values and meaning, the nature of medical knowledge and judgement.
