Abstract

Dental clinical research is characterized by a specific feature which cannot be revealed in any other field of medicine. The fact is nearly all dental studies use a therapeutic approach. Hence, all cases under study are clinical ones which require dental care. Clinical trials in stomatology are conducted not only to test a new product, but also to cure the patient. Therefore, while licensing function is imposed on local (research) ethical committee, control function is to be performed by an ethical committee of a particular dental clinic. In this relation it is necessary to stipulate the requirements imposed on such committees as there are not any particular regulations in documentation of different aspects of dental activity.
