This circumstance determines the relevancy of the problem of their electromagnetic compatibility. A dangerous influence of overhead electric lines over communication lines occurs in short-circuit conditions of overhead electric lines. The influence of overhead electric lines over communication lines with taking the probability of a short circuit into account has been firstly examined in this article. It is shown that in a typical case, on a parallel path length of 20 km, the probability of short circuit is not more than 0.012, or, on average, no more than one damage in 83 years of operation of communication lines.
