The article presents the current data on irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), including its definition, epidemiology, etiology and pathogenesis, clinical features and diagnostic criteria. The role of visceral hypersensitivity as a leading pathophysiological mechanism of IBS is analyzed in detail. Topical non-pharmacological and pharmacological approaches to the treatment of IBS are discussed.

В статье изложены современные данные о синдроме раздраженного кишечника (СРК), включая вопросы его дефиниции, эпидемиологии, этиопатогенеза, особенностей клинической картины и критериев диагностики. Подробно анализируется роль висцеральной гиперчувствительности как ведущего патофизиологического механизма СРК. Обсуждаются актуальные немедикаментозные и фармакотерапевтические подходы к лечению СРК.
