Potentials for the use of drugs of natural origin in therapy of seborrhea and acne

Mubarakshina O., Somova M., Solovyeva L.

Аннотация

Acne and seborrhea are an urgent problem in the therapeutic and dermatological clinical practice, because they can significantly impact the quality of life of patients. Frequently, treatment of these diseases is limited to the use of symptomatic drugs. A pathogenetic approach to treatment using natural vitamins and trace elements, which regulate metabolic processes, providing skin trophism, is more reasonable. For this purpose, drugs of natural origin, in particular beer yeast enriched with sulfur can be used. High safety of natural drugs allows to recommend their wide use in the schemes of complex therapy of acne and seborrhea.

Current indicators of antifungal resistance of Candida species

Rakhmatulina M., Tsoy E.

Аннотация

The article presents the results of the evaluation of modern sensitivity indicators to antifungal preparations in 1052 strains of Candida species isolated from patients with urogenital candidiasis in the period from 2010 to 2015. Pathogen culture identified was examined to determine the sensitivity to amphotericin В, 5-fluorocytosine, fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, and miconazole. At present, along with a predominance of Candida albicans, the etiological range of causative agents of urogenital candidiasis is characterized by an increasing proportion of non-albicans species (Candida glabrata, Candida krusei, Candida parapsilosis). Heterogeneous specific structure of the disease and increase in resistance rates of Candida to commonly used azole antifungals (fluconazole, itraconazole, miconazole) necessitate permanent monitoring of the sensitivity of infectious agents to antifungals and optimizing treatment regimens based on these indicators.

Treatment of women with acne and adrenal hyperandrogenism

Golousenko I.

Аннотация

The study included 303 women aged of 20 to 40 years with acne. Advanced survey included evaluation of endocrine profile and steroid profile of urine. A group of 31 women was allocated; this group was characterized by early-onset acne and hirsutism, android-type obesity, the prevalence of noninflammatory elements, seborrhea, disorders of endocrine profile and steroid profile of urine, metabolic disorders, increased adrenal glands, and lack of effectiveness of oral contraceptives. At the same time, specific clinical and laboratory signs were revealed that allows to assign them to the diagnostic criteria of adrenal hyperandrogenism in women with acne. It’s made it possible to select the rational effective treatment for these patients in the future.

Second generation antihistamines in combination therapy of allergic rhinitis

Kunelskaya N., Tsarapkin G., Ivoylov A., Tovmasyan A.

Аннотация

Over the past 30 years the prevalence of allergic diseases commonly doubled every 10 years. Currently, the problem of allergic rhinitis (AR) can be considered as one of the most pressing. In terms of prevalence, medical and social importance, and impact on health and quality of life of patients, the AR occupies the first place among the other allergic diseases. Over the past few decades a steady increase in the number of patients suffering from this disease has seen in Europe. In the structure of allergic diseases, the proportion of AR is very high (60-70%). According to the results of epidemiological studies, AR affects about 20% of the population in all age groups. The article demonstrates the role of antihistamines in the treatment of AR. Currently, cetirizine, a competitive antagonist of histamine, a metabolite of hydroxyzine, selectively blocking the Hi-receptor, is one of the most effective, safe and cost-effective antihistamines with systemic effects. Furthermore, besides antihistamine effect, cetirizine has the additional anti-inflammatory action. Probability of development of tolerance to the drug is low, so it can be used for a long time. Cetirizine is applied once a day that increases adherence to therapy. Cetirizine has well-proven bioequivalence with an original cetirizine, but is more economically available. Cetirizine is one of the most effective and safe second generation antihistamines.
