Resumo

In 59 women with chronic inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs, with bacteriological examination in the cervical canal has revealed an abundant growth of Escherichia coli. The evaluation of pathogenicity and antibiotic susceptibility of E. coli isolated from the cervical canal of the cervix in women with chronic inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs was performed. Depending on the regimen of treatment, 59 patients were divided into 2 groups identical in the clinical course and the results of laboratory examination. The differences were relevant to the treatment tactics. Group I consisted of 25 patients treated with josamycin and immune-enhancing therapy. Group II included 24 patients who were treated with josamycin only. Our results suggest that the treatment of patients with chronic inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs, which had shown abundant growth of E. coli, should include immune-enhancing agents along with antibiotics. The combination of antibiotics and immune-enhancing agents not only prevents the development of relapse of inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs, but also reduces the number of courses of antimicrobial therapy.
