This article is designed to help practicing pediatrician in determining the correct tactics of management of iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in children and adolescents. The basic principles of choice of iron supplements for the treatment of IDA, as well as route of administration and dosing, are presented. Particular attention is paid to the criteria of effectiveness of therapy with iron preparations. The most common mistakes in the treatment of IDA are discussed; the indications for the use of parenteral iron preparations, principles of their administration and appropriate dosing are specified.
