Resumo

The article presents the results of the study which was aimed to the comparison of the infectious complications after abdominal birth and the health of newborns in women who received cefazolin 2.0 g for prophylaxis before skin incision and intraoperatively after clamping the umbilical cord. The time of preventive administration of cefazolin with planned abdominal birth (30 minutes before the skin incision or after clamping the umbilical cord) does not significantly affect the risk of postoperative infectious complications. Cefazolin, despite prolonged use in obstetric practice, remains the drug of choice for the prevention of infection in the ares of surgical intervention in cesarean section.
