Today prevention and treatment of diseases caused by microorganisms is an actual problem of modern therapy. Therefore, the search for active molecules, the based on them development of some new, more effective antimicrobial agents is an important task of modern pharmaceutical chemistry. Promising compounds for solving these problems are benzimidazole derivatives. They are available, functionally capable, stable and have a wide spectrum of biological activities (antiviral, anthelmintic, antibacterial, anticancer, antidiabetic). The purpose of this paper is to generalize and systematize information about the antimicrobial action of 2-thio-, 2-amino-substituted benzimidazoles and benzimidazole derivatives complexes with transition metals. These compounds and their complexes with transition metals are active against pathogenic strains Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhimurium, Proteus vulgaris, Bacillus cereus, Micrococcus luteus , Helicobacter рylori and others.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>На сегодняшний день профилактика и лечение заболеваний, вызванных микроорганизмами, остается актуальной проблемой современной терапии. Поэтому поиск активных молекул, разработка на их основе новых, более действенных антимикробных препаратов является важной задачей современной фармацевтической химии. Перспективными соединениями для решения указанных проблем являются производные бензимидазола. Они доступны, функциональноспособны, устойчивы и имеют широкий спектр биологического действия (противовирусное, антигельминтное, антибактериальное, противоопухолевое, антидиабетическое). Цель данной работы состоит в обобщении и систематизации информации о противомикробном действии 2-тио-, 2-аминозамещенных бензимидазолов и комплексов производных бензимидазола с переходными металлами. Эти соединения, а также их комплексы с переходными металлами активны по отношению к болезнетворным штаммам Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhimurium, Proteus vulgaris, Bacillus cereus, Micrococcus luteus , Helicobacter рylori и многим другим.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>benzimidazole</kwd><kwd>bacterial cultures</kwd><kwd>antibacterials</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>бензимидазол</kwd><kwd>бактериальные культуры</kwd><kwd>антибактериальные препараты</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Машковский М.Д.
