Abstract

A cognitive model of psychotherapy implies that the ground of mental and emotional disorders of a person is distorted or dysfunctional thinking, which in its turn leads to inadequate and non-adaptable emotional, physiological and behavioral disorders of the patient. The change of dysfunctional and maladaptive thinking leads to better health and harmonization of behavior. Man’s thinking is multi-layered and it includes a number of levels, from the surface at arbitrary, through the level of automatic thoughts, installation and schemes to deep convictions, including self-concept and the basic philosophy of personality.
