Some aspects of psychological work in transplantological service

Abstract

Patient’s psychological readiness for transplantation of certain organ is as important as his conceptual understanding of medical necessity of the procedure. Transplantation surgeons must provide patients’ sufficient adherence to the operation. Psychological treatment of transplantology patients, which includes diagnostics and correction of emerging psychopathological symptoms and behavioral abnormalities, is to be realized at various stages since the very beginning of transplantation expectation. The task is optimally solved in process of mutual collaboration between surgeons, psychiatrists and clinical psychologists.
