Abstract
The article is dedicated to the actual problem of realization of innovative policy at the higher school. An author traces and marks the virtual character of many transformations being conducted to this sphere, and comes to the conclusion that the specific character of a higher educational establishment imposes certain restrictions on the changes being made. The innovation process in the higher education institution must be conducted with delicacy, combining classical traditions with modern scientific achievements, with the purpose of providing the necessary fundamental level of education.
