Abstract

This article deals with the problem of personal freedom in Russia. The analysis of post-soviet period of social development shows that in the society the freedom is more formal than real or true. In this way the personal freedom acquires a distorted meaning. The author concludes that in the capitalist society in Russia the human values and opinions go through a transformation. In these conditions the freedom becomes a tool for satisfying material needs rather than a tool for broadening the possibilities of personal development or understanding personal responsibility.
