The choice of the method of cerumenolysis and prevention of sulfur plugs formation

Normally, earwax is removed spontaneously during movements of the temporomandibular joint, however, under certain conditions, so-called sulfur plugs can form, which are a common reason for patients to seek medical help. One of the effective methods of removing sulfur plugs is cerumenolysis. The article presents the results of an observational study involving 60 patients, performed in 2022 at the Department of otorhinolaryngology of A.I. Yevdokimov Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of the use of the cerumenolytic A-Cerumen Plus in the presence of sulfur plugs and after their removal as a means of prevention. The results indicate that A-Cerumen Plus is effective in patients with sulfur plugs and can be used both in both dissolving sulfur plugs and preventing their re-formation.
