В контексте Белой книги по физической и реабилитационной медицине (ФРМ) в Европе, в настоящей статье описываются перспективы ФРМ в Европе в соответствии с реальным видением европейских организаций. Во всех главах подчеркиваются большие изменения в демографии, ожидаемой продолжительности жизни, выживаемости, инвалидизации, из-за увеличения распространенности продолжительных нарушений здоровья, из-за технологического прогресса, а также расходов на здравоохранение и общественных изменений с точки зрения требований благополучия и качества жизни вместе со здоровьем. Все эти проблемы сочетаются с особенностями ФРМ - медицинской специальностью, ориентированной на человека в целом и его/ее функционирование при различны нарушениях здоровья, с целью гарантии их максимального возможного участия посредством улучшения деятельности и сокращения нарушений. Представлены возможные последствия этих изменений в ходе развития клинической практики, услуг, обучения, и исследований ФРМ; кроме того, дано представление о прогрессе в деле согласования развития ФРМ в Европе и возможный вклад ФРМ в планирование политики.
