Author Guidelines
Dear authors!
By submitting a manuscript to the journal, the author(s) guarantee(s) that the material or part thereof (in the original or translated into or from other languages) has not been previously published anywhere else and is not currently under consideration for publication by other publishers.
- General requirements
- Manuscripts are accepted in electronic form (.doc/.docx files, without macros) by email toeditor@neftemir.ru (font size 11, single spacing).
- The email must include the surname, first name, patronymic, mobile phone number, and email address of the corresponding author for prompt communication, as well as the postal address for sending the finished issue (this information will not be published in the journal).
- Information about the authors (full names, academic degrees, positions held, place of work) should be provided.
- To publish an article, authors must also provide scanned copies of the following documents:
- an expert opinion on the possibility of publishing the materials in the open press;
- a license agreement granting the right to use the article in a scientific journal in Russian (a sample is available on the website);
- The text of the article should consist of a title, abstract, keywords, main material, and A list of references should be provided at the end of the article. The list of references should be formatted in accordance with GOST R 7.0.5–2008.
- Information should also be provided in English, including the full names of the authors and their place of work.
- Abstract: the optimal length is 500–700 characters (including spaces). The abstract should include information about the purpose of the study, methodology, and results, and should not exceed one paragraph.
- All graphic objects are additionally sent to the publisher as separate files in .tif or .jpg format (with a resolution of at least 300 dpi) in good quality.
- Text typesetting
- Do not use any languages other than Russian and Do not mix Russian and Latin letters in the same word.
- Do not use more than one space in a row. Paragraph indents should not be set manually or using the tab key, but using the "Paragraph" menu. Use the <Enter> key only to start a new.
- Do not put a period after "UDC," article titles, addresses, subheadings, table titles, or units of measurement (s — second, g — gram, min — minute, day — day, deg — degree).
- Always put a space between initials and last names: A. Ivanov, P. P. Petrov.
- Use the features provided by the text editor: automatic footnote creation, automatic hyphenation, list creation, etc.
- In the text, superscripts and subscripts are formatted using the corresponding format in the main menu x2 or x2 . A dash is typed using the keyboard combination 0150 (short) or 0151 (long) while holding down the <Alt> key. Automatic replacement of dashes with hyphens (and vice versa) throughout the text is not allowed. A short dash (not a hyphen!) is used to denote subtraction in mathematical.
- Abbreviations consisting of several words are separated by spaces (760 mm Hg; ; i.e.).
- References to figures and tables are typed with spaces ( 1, Table 2 instead of Fig. 1, Table 2).
- Abbreviations should only be used if they are actively used in the text. It is unacceptable to use an abbreviation only once or to use it.
- Typing formulas
- Decimal fractions are typed with a comma (0.25 instead of 0.25).
- No period is placed at the end of subscripts/superscripts (examples: Tm — melting point, but Tt — phase transition temperature, since different words in the index are separated by a period without a space).
- Special characters (in particular, Greek letters, mathematical symbols, ) are typed as normal text (menu item "Insert — Symbol — Normal Text"). For complex formulas (which cannot be typed using the keyboard), use the Equation 3.0 formula editor or (if unavailable) MathType. For formulas that are separated into a separate line, punctuation marks are typed together with the formula. The font size for symbols and formulas is standard. Numbers, Cyrillic and Greek letters in formulas and explanations are typed in regular font, while Latin letters are typed in italics. The main font for formulas is Arial.
- Typing formulas in Word's built-in Equation Editor is not allowed.
- The symbols in any formula are explained in strict accordance with the order in which they appear. First, the variables shown in the numerator are explained, and then those in the Any explanations are given only once and should not be repeated. Only symbols or variables that are unfamiliar to the reader are explained.
- Formatting of figures
- Any graphic or chemical diagrams must be provided to the publisher in such a form that they can be cut and pasted into any layout program with a couple of mouse clicks. Figures should not be a set of unrelated (i.e., ungrouped).
- Any inscriptions on the figure should be written in a standard font (Arial is preferred, but this is not a strict requirement). They should not be huge, sloppy, or difficult to read. Spelling mistakes are unacceptable, and abbreviations of commonly used words should be avoided.
- Figures must be of good quality, clear, and free of errors or inscriptions that have not been translated from any foreign language into Russian (so-called explications). All inscriptions in the figures must be legible. Redrawing figures is discussed separately, as it involves additional work for the layout designer and editor.
- List of references
- The list of references is formatted in accordance with the requirements of GOST R 0.5–2008. It is permissible not to use long dashes in order to save space. Examples of how to format a list of references are provided in Appendix 2.
- The number of a Russian-language journal is indicated by "№", and a foreign journal by "No.". The word "journal" is not written in the titles of journals; the title itself is placed after a double slash (see GOST R 0.5–2008).
- For journal references, the titles of articles must be indicated. If there are four or fewer authors, all of them are indicated. If there are five or more authors, the surnames of the authors other than the first three are abbreviated (written as "[et al.]" or, in English-language sources, "[et al.]"). For journal articles, it is mandatory to indicate the page range; for books or abstracts, the total number of
