Clinical observations in patients with absence seizures and experimental data on genetic animal models are considered and the evidences point out the leading part of thalamocortical system in initiation and maintenance of seizure activity. A comparison of antiepileptic drugs using treatment of absence epilepsy is present.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Излагаются особенности неврологических проявлений абсансной эпилепсии и предполагаемые механизмы возникновения, развития и прекращения приступов. Рассматриваются клинические данные, полученные на больных, экспериментальные данные, полученные на животных генетических абсансных линий, свидетельствующие о ключевой роли таламокортикальной системы в формировании и поддержании судорожной активности.
