Abstract

At the current stage hypertension is the most significant factor associated with the development of chronic heart failure (CHF) with preserved systolic function of the left ventricle (LV). Forecast of such profile patient greatly depends on the level of blood pressure, condition of lipid and carbohydrate metabolisms, smoking status, and other additional factors. Over the past two decades, there were expanded notions about gender characteristics of cardiovascular disease course and outcome. The article presents the data of own research of patients (55 men aged 53.7 ± 6.4 years and 47 women aged 51.5 ± 6.2 years) with essential hypertension complicated by heart failure with preserved LV systolic function. The CHF diagnosis was verified by clinically, echocardiography data and evaluation results of precursor N-terminal brain natriuretic peptide blood level. In examined persons there was defined level of carbohydrate, lipid, purine metabolism parameters in blood. It was found that the males suffering from hypertension, complicated by CHF with preserved left ventricular ejection fraction, have a worse lipid profile and purine metabolism parameters in comparison with the females (1 figs, 2 tables, bibliography: 39 refs).
