Abstract
The Fifth International Conference on “Genetically Modified Organisms: History, Achievements, and Social and Environmental Risks” successfully convened from December 1–3, 2025, at Saint Petersburg State University in Russia. Organized in a hybrid format, the event welcomed both in-person and online attendees, drawing researchers from Russia, Moldova, and Turkmenistan. The conference celebrated the anniversary of Professor Lyudmila Alekseevna Lutova, whose research in plant biotechnology and genetic engineering is well-known both nationally and internationally.
A special issue of the journal "Ecological Genetics" features selected articles from the conference participants.
