Effect of LIM kin ase 1 is oform ratio on Drosophil a mel anogaster courtship behavior: a complex approach

Abstract

LIMK1 - is the key enzyme of actin remodeling which controls dendritic spine morphology necessary for synaptic plasticity during learning and memory formation. Conditioned courtship suppression paradigm and a set-up for communicative sound production during courtship were used to asses learning acquisition and memory formation in four Drosophila strains polymorphic for the limk1 gene harbored by the agnostic locus: the wild type strains Canton-S, Berlin, Oregon-R and the mutant аgnts3. Behavioral performances were compared to the brain content and ratio of two LIMK1 isoforms in these Drosophila strains.

The role of mobile genetic elements in evolution of cyanobacteria

Abstract

Possible pathways of cyanobacterial evolution are discussed on the basis of in silico analysis of fully sequenced genomes of 45 species/strains of cyanobacteria. The information on quantity and functions of different mobile elements (IS, MITE elements and group II introns) was reviewed. Positive correlation between whole genome sizes and number of genes, encoding transposases has been revealed. It is suggested that transpositions play significant role in genome rearrangements taking part in gene regulation and adaptation processes determining the directions of microevolution processes in cyanobacterial populations.

The ITS1-5.8S rRNA gene -ITS2 sequence variability during the divergence of sweet-grass species (gen us Glyceria R. Br.)

Abstract

Comparative analysis of the sequence ITS1-5.8S rRNA gene-ITS2 of the nuclear genome of 13 species of genus Glyceria, 4 species of Melica and a species of monotypic genus Pleuropogon showed that the species of the genus Glyceria have 3 haplotypes: 1) Haplotype A was found only in species of the subgenus Glyceria section Glyceria (G. septentrionalis, G. fluitans, G. declinata, G. occidentalis, G. notata, G. borealis, G. leptostachya) and in Pleuropogon sabinii; 2) Haplotype C is characteristic of the subgenus Hydropoa, section Hydropoa (G. grandis, G. х amurensis, G. triflora, G. maxima) and sect. Lithuanicae (G. leptolepis); 3) Haplotype B is found in the species of the subgenus Hydropoa sections Striatae (G. elata, G. striata, G. neogaea, G. canadensis), Scolochloiformes (G. alnasteretum, G. spiculosa) and G. lithuanica of sect. Lithuanicae. Species carring haplotype B are located at the base of the phylogenetic tree of the genus Glyceria and/or clustered with low bootstrap indices. On the phylogenetic trees inferred by the analysis of the sequences ITS and 5.8S rDNA both sect. Glyceria and sect. Hydropoa represented two sister monophyly branches. The species Pleuropogon sabinii belong to the branch of subgenus Glyceria as a sister monotypic branch to the branch of the sect. Glyceria.

Abstract

Delicate regulation of gene expression is performed through transcriptional factors competition for promoters that provides punctual cell response to environmental changes. Gene PHO3 of yeast S. cerevisiae encodes the constitutive acid phosphatase. In this work we researched genetic control of the gene PHO3 expression in response to nitrogen source in medium. PHO3 expression level was proved to decrease while yeast using poor nitrogen source like urea. Possible regulatory mechanisms for gene PHO3 were revealed involving repressor of nitrogen regulated genes Gzf3p and ubiquitin ligase Rsp5p

Abstract

Polymorphisms of APOE (E2/E3/E4), LPL (1595C>G) and NOS3 (-786T>C) in groups of pregnant women with and without preeclampsia, in donors, in children with hypertension, children with obesity and metabolic syndrome, and in control children were studied by PCR /RF LP analysis. Statistically significant increase of T/C genotype frequency of NOS3 in pregnant women with preeclampsia as well as in women with physiological pregnancy compared to this one in nonpregnant women of donors group was assessed (56%, 59% and 37%, respectively, F<0.03).

Analysis of UCPs, PPARs and PGC-1 gene polyorphism in elderly people from North-West region of Russia

Abstract

Polymorphism of PPARA G/C, PPARD +294Т/С, PPARG Pro12Ala, PGC-1 Gly482Ser, UCP2 Ala55Val and UCP3 C-55T genes in elderly people (group1) and control group (25-55 aged people) (group2) from North-West Region of Russia was studied by RLFP methods. Higher frequencies of T/C PPARD, Ser/Ser PGC-1 and C/C UCP3 genotypes in group1 compared to group2 were found. Furthermore, it was shown different distribution of PPARA, PPARD, PGC-1 and UCP2 genotypes in man and woman. We suggest that PPARA, PPARD, PGC-1 and UCP3 polymorphism is significant for survival.

Polymorphism of DNA repair genes (XRCC1, XRCC3, XPD, XPC) and risk of uterine myoma among women working in petrochemical complex

Abstract

Uterine myoma is a multifactorial disease in which the development involving both genetic and environmental factors. In this study we analyzed polymorphisms of genes excision repair (XRCC1, XPD/ERCC2, XPC) and repair of double-stranded DNA breaks (XRC 3) among women working at a large petrochemical complex of "Salavatnefteorgsintez". It is established that a minor allele homozygous for the minor allele genotype and polymorphism Gln939Lys (rs2228001) XPC gene are associated with the risk of uterine myoma (OR = 3.9 CI 1.001-18.13 for genotype and OR = 2.3 CI 1.36-3.77 for allele).

Abstract

Previously, the deletion of SUP35N has been shown to create the genetic background for identification of the novel genes and epigenetic determinants controlling the nonsense-suppression. Here, using a genomic overexpression screen, we have found several genes encoding potentially amyloidogenic proteins, whose overexpression affects the suppressor phenotype in the strain producing the chimeric protein Aβ-Sup35MC on the background of the deletion of SUP35 gene encoding releasing factor eRF 3. It has been demonstrated the NAB2, NAB3 and VTS1 genes participate in the regulation of nonsense-suppression in S. cerevisiae.
