Abstract
Hundred years ago astronomers had access to only the optical wavelength band. However in the XX century developing science and technology opened for scientists many new wavelength bands (radio, X-rays, gamma rays etc.), which allowed us to look much farther and deeper. In this article we discuss how our knowledge about the lower layers of the solar atmosphere progressed due to the sub-terahertz and terahertz observations.
