Abstract

The paper presents the results of studying the degree of alexithymia (difficulty recognizing and verbalizing emotions) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus versus a control group matched for gender and age. It gives data on the association of significant alexithymia with social and demographic characteristics, complications of diabetes, carbohydrate metabolic compensation, and anxiety-depressive disorders.
