Abstract

The paper considers the issues of pain treatment in patients with severe forms of dementia. The problem is extremely urgent both for long-term healthcare facilities, psychogeriatric hospitals, and the outpatient facility personnel caring for these patients together with their relatives. International guidelines are quoted in detail; the organizational aspects of care for dementia patients with severe pain syndrome are discussed. Tools for pain syndrome assessment are given.
