Abstract

The paper considers the clinical results of using thiapride and quetiapine in patients with mental confusion and the time course of changes in the concentration of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) during the above treatment. The changes in the BDNF concentration were characterized by its reduction with the similar clinical results of therapy. There are possible explanations for this and a conclusion about the similarity of the effectiveness and safety of using thiapride and the atypical antipsychotic in the aspect of their potential effects on the processes controlled by BDNF.
