Abstract

Mucolytics are extensively used in the treatment of various lung diseases with impaired mucociliary clearance and mucus hyperproduction. The role of recombinant human DNAase (rhDNAase, Pulmozyme) in the treatment of children and adults with lung disease not caused by cystic fibrosis has not been well established. The paper reviews the available reports on the results of clinical trials evaluating rhDNAase.
