Abstract

The use of probiotics for the preventive and treatment of diseases may be the most actively developing area. However, there are at times speculations that probiotics are efficient and safe, which is partly due to the absence of clear indications for their use and criteria for evaluating of their efficacy and to the difficulties in performing the studies that are appropriate to the high level of evidence. This publication summarizes scientific data on this problem.
