Abstract

Horseshoe kidney (HK) occurs with a frequency of 0.25% in the population. It is the most common renal fusion anomaly (2.78%). Laparoscopic pyelithotomy is an effective treatment option for large and high-density stones in the HK pelvis when the efficiency of extracorporeal shock-wave lithotripsy may be low and a percutaneous approach may be difficult or impossible and associated with a high risk for complications.
