Important risk factors for insulin resistance (IR) in myocardial infarction (MI), along with insulinemia and glycemia, is to increase the concentration of free fatty acids (FFA) and the imbalance in the system adipokines against deficiency of ghrelin in acute and early recovery periods of the disease. FFA and ghrelin are promising laboratory markers for stratifying the risk of IR in patients with MI
