Abstract
The author describes 9 cases in which the development of various mental illnesses was observed in leprosy patients. Based on personal observations and literature data, Moreira draws the following conclusions.
No form of mental illness is characteristic of leprosy. However, Polyneuritis leprosa may be accompanied by the development of Korsakov's syndrome. Simultaneously with the development of lepra, almost all forms of psychoses were observed, although not often. Tuberculosis, streptococcal infection and other complications of leprosy can lead to the development of mental illness in patients with leprosy. 4) The usual state of mind (gewönliche geisteszustand) in leprosy patients is different and depends both on heredity and upbringing, and on the clinical form of the disease.

Авторъ описываетъ 9 случаевъ, въ которыхъ у лепрозныхъ больныхъ наблюдалось развитіе различныхъ душевныхъ заболѣваній. На основаніи личныхъ наблюденій и литературныхъ данныхъ Moreira дѣлаетъ слѣдующіе выводы.
Ни одна изъ формъ душевныхъ заболѣваній не является характерной для проказы. Однако Polyneuritis leprosa можетъ сопровождаться развитіемъ Корсаковскаго синдрома. Одновременно съ развитіемъ lepra наблюдались, правда не часто, почти всѣ формы психозовъ. Туберкулезъ, инфекція стрептококками и другія осложненія проказы могутъ повлечь за собой развитіе душевнаго заболѣванія у лепрозныхъ больныхъ. Обычное состояніе духа (gewönliche geisteszustand) у лепрозныхъ больныхъ различно и находится въ зависимости, какъ отъ наслѣдственности и воспитанія, такъ и отъ клинической формы заболѣванія.
