Author Guidelines

The principal form of publication is a paper, containing results of original experimental or theoretical investigations. Submitted manuscript should represent the new data that have not been published before. The Journal publishes papers containing 10-20 pages (including Tables and Figures)

Materials should be original papers (reporting research and development work) submitted only to this Journal, and have not been published previously.

General terms

1.1. The journal «Vestnik of Samara State Technical University. Technical Sciences Series» is the periodical scientific edition published by Samara State Technical University since 1993. The main purposes of publishing include development of research activities, highly qualified specialists training and support of leading scientific schools.

1.2. Since 2011 the journal is a quarterly printed edition (four issues a year); issue size – 200 pages; language of articles – Russian, English.

1.3. The journal is published in printed and electronic version. The full-text electronic version of journal is hosted by the web-site of scientific electronic library eLIBRARY.RU (http://elibrary.ru/title_about.asp?id=11971) and by the web-site of Samara State Technical University (http://vestnik-teh.samgtu.ru).

1.4. The journal is published at the expense of publisher. All materials are publishing free of charge, the author's fee is not provided. All materials of the electronic version are freely available.

1.5. Since May 2018 the journal publishes the original results of fundamental researches on sections:
05.13.00 - «Informatics, Computer Science and Control»,
05.11.00 - «Instrumentation, Metrology and Informative-measurings devices and systems»,
05.09.00 - «Electrical Engineering».

1.6. The contributed article should be a completed scientific research. The scientific results must be novel and should not have been published, or be in process of publication in other editions.

1.7. The publisher consider the invited articles and reviews, materials of doctoral and candidate theses and the researches conducted with support from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and other foundations, primarily.

1.8. Only one article of the same could be published in the current issue, if there are several ones in editor’s hand. This article is chosen by the editorial board. The second one could be published in next issue, and so on. The editorial board is entitled to make a decision of publishing at most two articles of the same author simultaneously on extraordinary occasions.

1.9. Samara State Technical University as a founder and publisher of the periodical scientific edition «Vestnik of Samara State Technical University. Technical Sciences Series» takes full accountability for control and management of all stages of publising articles as well as accepts its etical and other obligations related to publishing.

1.10. The present Guidelines come into effect from the date of online publishing on web-site of the Journal (http://vestnik-teh.samgtu.ru). The changes of Guidelines come into effect from the date of online publishing of the Guidelines new version.

Guidelines on plagiarism, duplication and redundancy of publication

3.1. All submitted articles are checked for the illegal using of other works (plagiarism), duplication and redundancy of publication (including the translation from other languages).

3.2. If plagiarism, duplication or redundancy (including self-plagiarism) is found, the article is rejected without review as unacceptable.

3.3. The extended results represented at the conferences and seminars are not the cases of duplication or redundancy if those are published in journal by agreement with the editorial board and have the corresponding references.

3.4. The journal allows prior publication on preprint servers (excluding prior publication in other editions). Such article is not deemed having duplication or redundancy.

3.5. If a case of plagiarism or duplication comes to light after a paper is published in the Journal, the editor will use the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) flowcharts for removing of such article..

Text recycling

4.1. The submitted article (excluding the bibliography) should not have more than 15 percent of recycled text (text used in other publications of the author).

4.2. The journal allows text recycling only for including necessary definitions, formulating base principles etc for reading the article without additional sources. This case of text recycling is not self-plagiarism.

4.3. If authors consider necessary for reader to study some materials on similar subject or not included in the article, they can make the bibliography sufficiently complete to find these materials.

Publication requirements

Text of the article is typed in Microsoft Word in format B5 (182x257 mm). Margins: top - 1,7 cm; bottom - 1.7 cm; left - 2.3 cm; right - 2.3 cm.
Font - Times New Roman, font size - 11 pt, indention - 0.7 cm., line spacing - single; text alignment - in width.
Not allowed additional formatting (like inserting breaks for sections; in adjacent columns of the table to place figures and the continuation of the text etc.).

The mandatory structural elements of the paper are:

  1. UDC, font size 11 pt.
  2. Title of the article - capital, bold, 11 pt font size.
  3. The author's initials, names - bold, italic, 11 pt.
  4. Author's organizations, 8 pt.
  5. The mailing address of the author's organizations, 8 pt.
  6. Abstract starts with the work " Annotation " by bold, italic. It should contain at least 200-250 words. Font size - 10 pt, italic.
  7. Keyword list should begin in bold, italic heading « Keywords: », after which the actual list of keywords for article is provided, separated by commas, font size - 10 pt. No more than 15 terms
  8. The content of the paper.
  9. Results and conclusion.
  10. List of references. Should start with the separate line "List of references" and then actual list. Font size 9 pt

Abstract and summary. Abstract written in one paragraph up to 0.5 pp. In an extremely condensed form it presents the essence of the work and the results achieved. Summary which concludes the article should contain a generalization of the results achieved, without repeating the annotation and not limited to a simple repetition of what has been done in the work.

The content of the article All scientific articules should be presented in a clear and structured way, including introduction, where current state of the problem and importance of the solution is highlighed. Then the definition of task being solved, proposed methods and their validity, achieved results, their advantages and disadvantages, the level of novelty, quality and importance comparing to known approaches. The journal publishes articles of 10 to 20 pages (plus list of references). It's recommended to include no more than 8 graphs or tables.

Tables and illustrations. All tables and figures placed in the article (drawings, diagrams, charts, computer printouts, diagrams, photographs) should be referred in the text as a link. Each illustration should have a meaningful name and number. Use sequentially numbered (in Arabic numerals) within the article, independently for figures and tables. It is recommended to minimize the number of figures and tables.

Tables are numbered, if their number is more than one. Title is required when the table has a significant value, no heading of the table which provides only auxiliary info. If there is no data in the column it should be filled with a dash. Numerical data in the tables shouldn't be accompanied by the unit value, the latter should be put in the text outset, the column title or the name of the table. The table name is centered, font size - 10 pt, bold. Text table - 10 pt.

Images must be carefully prepared for publication in electronic form (scanned or made in the graphical editor) and inserted into the text of the article. Drawings made by using drawing tools, MS Office, must be completely grouped.
Charts should be clearly marked in the appropriate units and the digital display on the coordinate axes, as well as a complete system of indexes of all the curves in the figure captions or text. All curves have to be drawn clear lines of the same thickness, sufficient for a clear view in the drawing. The numbering of the curves in the figures should start from one and processed from top to bottom, left to right.
If there is only one figure in the paper, it is not numbered. Figure captions - font size 10 pt, explanation of the caption - font size 9 pt.

Formula.
Serial numbers are assigned only to the most important formulas that are referenced in the text, the numbers are placed in parentheses at the right edge of the strip. Only sequential numbers can be used. Explanation of symbols in the formula (explication) is given in the order in which they are used in the formula.
The string begins with an explication of the word "where" (a colon is omitted). You can use the word "here" if the formula ends with the don before the start of explication. Numbers Re, Fr, St, Pr et al., signs of mathematical functions (sin, ctg, arcsin, ..., sh, Arsh, grad, rot, div, lim, exp, ln, lg, etc.), chemical elements and compounds (Cu, H-O-H, C2H5OH), as well as const definitions are put with the usual (non italic) font.
The legend of the values ​​of the upper and lower indices may not use the letters of the Russian alphabet.
When typing formulas need to use a special editor - Mathtype or MS Equation 3.0 , included with Microsoft Office.

The formulas that are referenced in the text, numbered and arranged in the center of the line, number of the formula should be the right aligned. After each formula according to the context should be punctuation (comma, period, etc.). The formulas do not need to use the letters of the Russian alphabet. For example:

Physical units. In the preparation of the manuscript one should be guided by the International System of Units (SI). Using text abbreviations for units without numerical values ​​of variables as well as putting them in line with the formulas is not permitted. The units should be in usual (non italic) font (Pa W / m2, J / (kg • K), and so on. D.).

List of references should start with the heading "REFERENCES" and include a numbered list of sources. Font size - 9 pt. Authors' names are in italics. Information about the sources should be placed in the list in order of appearance of references to sources in the text. The bibliography should not include unpublished materials.
References should include from 15 to 50 titles, as a must - recent articles of no more than 5 years old. List shouldn't include more than 30% of other articles by the authors of current article.
When referring to articles published in the "Vestnik of the Samara State Technical University", be sure to specify the name of the series.
References in the text are given in square brackets, for example [1], [2,3], [4-7], [4, p. 125].

List of documents required
  • Text of the scientific article (2 copies) on paper
  • Electronic text of the article (should be send to vest_teh@samgtu.ru)
  • Expert review on paper allowance for publishing
  • License agreement for the right to use presented paper for publishing (2 copies)
  • Organization's recommendation for paper admission (if the authors are not SSTU employees)
  • Information about authors (surname, name, patronymic, degree, place of employment, postal address of employer, job position) - both on English and Russian languages
  • Contacts ( telephone and e-mail)
  • Contact person (if paper is presented by several authors)
 

Master's dissertation, doctoral dissertation and Materials supported by RFBR and other Foundations are selected on a priority basis.

The Paper should be submitted in accordance with the Rules for Authors and in electronic format (name of the file should contain surnames of the first two authors), for example Kuznetsov_Smirnov.com and 2 copies of printed texts, 1 copy of information about the authors and documents required

Papers prepared not in accordance with these rules or not relevant to the fields of the journal will not be accepted nor reviewed.

Rejected manuscripts will not be returned.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with each of the following items, and submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines may be returned to the authors.

  • Absence of plagiarism. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

  • Correct manuscript format. Manuscript file format is Microsoft Word (has the extension *.doc, *.docx, *.rtf). The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in "For Authors" section.

  • Cover letter. All the required supporting documents will be submitted together with the manuscript. Authors guarantee to upload scanned original of the filled cover letter in PDF. A cover letter signed by all authors.
