Abstract

The present article discusses the clinical and prognostic significance of prehypertension (increased normal blood pressure). The medical approaches to this condition are considered. If prehypertension is accompanied by high risk of complications and/or signs of target organ lesions, administration of antihypertensive drugs, in the first place, obviously, ACE inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor blockers should be discussed.
