Abstract

Chronic urticaria may be a manifestation of potentially dangerous diseases of the internal organs; therefore, careful examination is required in patients with recurrent urticaria. Infrequent causes of chronic urticaria include Schnitzler syndrome, which is a combination of chronic urticaria, monoclonal immunoglobulin M (IgM)-gammopathy and various systemic manifestations. This article presents the description of two clinical cases of Schnitzler syndrome in men 47 and 50 years old. In both cases, the syndrome was clinically suspected, and confirmed by histological and laboratory examinations. The features of these cases include the presence of urticarial vasculitis, a good effect of the use of pefloxacin and rituximab in one case and elimination diet in another case. Furthermore, hyperimmunoglobulinemia E in patient with Schnitzler syndrome is described for the first time in literature.
