Abstract

This study was carried out to investigate clinical utility of combination treatment with the use of cervical cerclage, Dr.Arabin pessary and cervical cerclage with pessary in pregnant women with cervical insufficiency and threatened preterm delivery receiving basic therapy with micronized progesterone or tocolytic agents. The comparative study demonstrated the superiority pessary with progesterone. The combination treatment of cervical insufficiency with the use of Dr.Arabin pessary combined with vaginal application of micronized progesterone resulted in prolongation of pregnancies to 39-40 weeks in 93% of cases and demonstrated the feasibility of prolongation of pregnancies by 2,7 weeks compared to cervical cerclage.
