Abstract
The authors review pathogenesis of nephrolithiasis and describe basic treatment strategies of the disease management. They provide results of analysis of clinical use of Blemaren water-soluble effervescent tablets in 30 patient (age 33-62 years) in 2000-2001. The analysis findings suggest that citric therapy with Blemaren in patients with mixed (X-ray inhomogenious) stones before extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (SWL) improves success rates of SWL and reduces the need for repeated treatments. The course of the citrate therapy should last at least 3 weeks.
