Abstract

Prevention of osteoporosis is a serious problem, given the increase in life expectancy. The article describes the main key links in the pathogenesis of osteoporosis, and discusses the role of vitamin D, which is needed to maintain calcium homeostasis and function of bone tissue. The basic criteria for preparations for the compensation of calcium and vitamin D deficiency in clinical practice are presented. The necessity of high treatment adherence, conducted for the restoring the balance of calcium dysregulation, is highlighted. It was concluded that the active use of combined preparations containing calcium and vitamin D for the prevention and complex therapy, allows to optimize the treatment process and the quality of life of patients as much as possible.
