MODERN TYPOLOGY AND METHODS OF TREATMENT OF INSOMNIA

Abstract

Currently, insomnia is the most frequent and clinically significant form of sleep disorder that can significantly reduce the quality of life of patients. Among considerable list of the causes of this syndrome, chronic cerebral hyperactivation with cognitive, electrophysiological and metabolic manifestations plays the most important role. According to the Third Edition of the International Classification of Sleep Disorders, there are three main forms of insomnia: acute, chronic and unspecified form. For effective treatment of insomnia, the comprehensive approach involving psychotherapeutic and pharmacological treatments is used.
