Abstract
The article discusses the current views on the problem of laxative disease in patients with chronic constipation, which develops on the background of self-medication, irrational treatment of the disease, and abuse of stimulant laxatives. Modern methods of treatment of chronic constipation, allowing to normalize the physiological activity of the intestine, and arrest the symptoms of laxative disease in a short time, are presented. The potentials for the use of lactulose (Duphalac) for this purpose are discussed.
